Laser Marking on Ceramics
Several kinds of marks can be applied to ceramic parts. Pre- and post-firing marks can be made. The pre-fire marks withstand high temperature heat treatment and would be useful for identifying tile bodies before glazing or ceramic containers used in high temperature manufacturing processes. The materials used to make these marks are similar to the used for marking glass. Marks can be made both "additive" and "subtractive" fashions.


 

Laser Marking on Glass
The laser can be used to "fire" or fuse our material to the surface of the glass. We call this a "positive" or "additive" mark. Positive marks on glass can be made in a variety of colors. Currently six different color marks can be achieved: black, bronze, blue, gray, yellow and green. A glass marking material which fires out clear is also available.


 

Laser Marking on Metal
Cermark metal marking materials are capable of making high-contrast, permanent marks on various metals with CO2, YAG and diode pumped lasers. To date, marks have been made on: stainless steel, aluminum, tin, copper, brass, chromed steel, titanium, tungsten carbide and lead-coated steel. The material is also expected to work on niobium, tantalum, silver, gold, palladium, platinum and pewter.
