As the recognized leader in North America, Ferro has been serving the lithium battery and ultracapacitor industries for 30 years with electrolytes produced at its Baton Rouge, Louisiana facility. Custom formulated electrolytes are manufactured to a variety of customer specifications under confidentiality agreements, and shipped domestically and worldwide in dedicated stainless steel returnable vessels.
Ferro’s Baton Rouge, Louisiana plant is an ISO 9001:2000 certified chemical manufacturing facility with core values based on Safety, Responsible Care, Environmental Responsibility, Quality and Customer Satisfaction.
The 1996 expansion of the Baton Rouge electrolyte production unit created a significant improvement in operational flexibility and product quality. Multiple blending tanks of various sizes provide production efficiency in closely matching the quantities required by Ferro’s customers. State-of-the-art equipment and control systems enable Ferro to effectively process chemicals that are sensitive to heat, air and moisture and to meet the increasingly stringent purity requirements of battery and ultracapacitor makers.

Asia
Ferro built a new electrolyte manufacturing plant in Suzhou, China. The plant is located approximately 1-hour drive from Shanghai in the High Technology Suzhou Industrial Park. Production of Purolyte® electrolytes started in March 2005. The new plant has a 3,500mt annual capacity. Ferro will ramp up production capacity to match market demand. The modular design of our plant enables the production capacity to reach 7,000mt within 6 months.
The key equipment critical to the peak operational, safety and environmental performance of our Suzhou plant were designed and built in the U.S. To ensure the highest quality products and safety targets, all plant operations strictly follow our U.S. plant procedures.
