EDISON, NJ—A new "PDI Type 46" automotive-grade color dispersion for PVC resin, utilizes a DIDP plasticizer vehicle said to prevent fogging.
The vehicle is a 100% solids di-iso-decyl phthalate (monomeric phthalate) plasticizer said to exhibit greater resistance to migration than DINP and ESO plasticizers, as well as improved color retention and low volatility, while boosting the efficiency of heat stabilizers.
The vehicle is loaded with up to 80% pigment by weight. High shear processing reduces dry pigment agglomerates to individual particles that are wet-out in suspension, preventing re-agglomeration, boosting uniformity and opacity of the original pigment by 50 to 80%.
Typical applications include coated fabrics, coatings, FDA sanctioned films, gaskets, organisols, plastisols, sealants and siding.
Single-pigment base colors are maintained in stock for rapid custom blending in any quantity.
