PDI® color dispersions for thermoset plastics are available in a wide range of resin-matched vehicles offering total reactivity with all polyester, epoxy and polyurethane resins and compatibility with all PVC and silicone formulations. Containing up to 80 percent pigment by weight, these concentrated dispersions undergo special processing that breaks down pigment agglomerates into individual particles that are wet-out in suspension, preventing re-agglomeration and increasing opacity of the original pigment by 50 to 80 percent. Primary base colors are maintained in stock for rapid, low-cost blending of custom colors in small or large quantities.
PDI Dispersions are smooth, workable pastes comprised of the highest-quality pigments dispersed in a range of liquid and paste vehicles which are 100 percent reactive and/or compatible with thermoset resin systems. This virtually eliminates effects on physical properties and, together with high pigment concentrations, enables the thermoset processor to achieve consistent coloration with unsurpassed ease and economy.
Super-concentrated color
Ferro maximizes color concentration by loading up to 80 percent pigment into liquid and paste vehicles. Pigment agglomerates are then mechanically broken down into individual particles, each of which is wet-out in the resin vehicle and stabilized to prevent reagglomeration, thus increasing the uniformity, opacity and intensity of the original pigment by 50 to 80 percent.
For each thermoset resin system, an entire spectrum of single-pigment color dispersions is maintained in stock for immediate shipment and for blending of custom colors on short notice.
Custom color matching
Ferro technicians combine their talents with today's most advanced computer analyzing equipment to offer you an unsurpassed color-matching service. Spectrophotometry minimizes metamerism, speeds color matching, ensures consistent quality and helps identify the pigment combination that produces any given color for the lowest possible cost.
Ferro can match your color chip, or refer to complete files of OSHA, Munsel, Federal Standard 595 Series or Pantone® matching systems and match according to your reference number. All orders are matched to Ferro standards or the retain of your approved custom color, ensuring identical color reproduction from order to order.
Equally important is that every Ferro color match takes into consideration all of your color requirements including heat and light stability, FDA requirements, chemical resistance, etc. Ferro can even incorporate a range of functional additives into your color paste to create a multi-functional package, enabling you to monitor all of your additives by monitoring only your color.
Virtually every thermoset resin, process and component application can benefit from the compatibility, concentration and consistency of PDI colorants and additives in resin-matched vehicles.
