Black Pigment Dispersions in Low-Viscosity Polyester Resin

PDI 11-81510 black colorant for polyester resins feature very low viscosity, easier handling, pumping and faster blending.

Colorant is comprised of carbon black pigment in a proprietary unsaturated polyester vehicle that is totally reactive with all polyester resin formulations.

Pigment agglomerates are broken down into individual particles which are wet-out in the polyester vehicle, preventing reagglomeration and increasing the opacity of the original pigment by 50 to 80 percent.

PDI 11-81510 low-viscosity black polyester colorant contains 20.0 percent pigment by weight, and exhibits a viscosity of 3,000 cps, compared with 20,000 cps for conventional black polyester colorants of equivalent color concentration.

Reductions in viscosity allow the processor to add colorant using a metering pump or loss-of-weight feeder or by pouring from weighed containers. Lower viscosity also reduces the amount of colorant residue in containers, and promotes faster, more uniform distribution of colorant into the base resin.

Low-viscosity black polyester colorants are available in 5-, 30- and 55-gallon containers.
