SPECTRAFLO® liquid colors for PET are FDA-compliant, highly concentrated, low-viscosity colorants comprised of heat-stable colors dispersed in a proprietary heat-stable vehicle that is compatible with PET.
The colorants are designed to remain stable up to 650º F, eliminating plate-out, exudation and color burnout, with no effect on printability. They also improve the flow and release characteristics of the polymer during processing.
SPECTRAFLO® liquid colors for PET are suitable for all processes including stretch blow molding, injection blow molding, and sheet extrusion. Desired opacity or transparency of the molded product is determined by pigment/dye selection and/or letdown ratios, which normally range from 100:1 to 1,000:1.
Types of pigments
- Chemical resistant
- FD&C compliant
- FDA compliant
- Heat stable
- Heavy metal free
- Light stable
Through mechanical processing, pigment agglomerates are broken down to wet-out individual particles and maximize the tinctorial strength of the pigment.
With loadings up to 80 percent pigment, these concentrated colors enable you to dramatically decrease coloring costs, while increasing color uniformity and minimizing adverse effects on physical properties.
A range of standard single-color dispersions is in stock for immediate shipment, while an entire spectrum of other single-pigment dispersions and custom blends are available on short notice.
Ferro is dedicated to providing value-added products and services that meet your requirements for color control, ease of processing and maximum cost effectiveness.
Computerized color matching
Ferro technicians combine their talents with today's most advanced computer analyzing equipment to offer you an unsurpassed color-matching service. Spectrophotometry minimizes metamerism, speeds color matching, ensures consistent quality and helps identify the pigment combination that produces any given color for the lowest possible cost.
Ferro can match your color chip, or refer to complete files of OSHA, Munsel, Federal Standard 595 Series or Pantone® matching systems and match according to your reference number. All orders are matched to Ferro standards or the retain of your approved custom color, ensuring identical color reproduction from order to order.
Equally important is that every Ferro color match takes into consideration all of your color requirements including heat and light stability, FDA approval, chemical resistance, etc. Ferro can even incorporate a range of surface-effect additives into your liquid colorant to create a multi-functional package, enabling you to monitor all of your additives by monitoring only your color.
Liquid color pump
A reliable, low-cost, peristaltic metering pump injects liquid color directly above the plasticating screw of injection molding and extrusion machines.
Only the colorant feed tube comes in contact with peristaltic pump rollers, allowing 10-minute color changeovers.
Natural resin in the hopper never requires emptying, eliminating the shutdown time required to dry precolored resin and the silo space needed to store it.
