New tensions and ancient passions compete to project themselves into the future. It is the search for beauty, driven by the desire to transcend the negativity of current times.
Dreams and desires, intuition and emotions, direct the choices for 2006 towards gently abstract environments. Environments that are pleasantly uplifting and contain a delicate touch of fantasy.
The overall effect is an exploration of surfaces, colors and lights that invent a new language to transmit sensitivity and empathy.
Color is not only a decorating tool, but something that interacts with matter to emphasize volume, relief, depth.
- New plays of light emerge from the fragmented surfaces, expressing themselves in cool, almost imperceptible tones.
- Leather and furs offer a range of natural, hued and speckled tones.
- The colors of cardboard and paper emanate substance and warmth - a natural control over the excess of form.
- A sense of the ephemeral breaths from the crystalline tones, elements of air and light.
- Bronze highlights and shot effects give warmth to russet tones.
- The metallic and decorative techniques give stimulus to a choice of strong, rich and energetic colors.
A puzzle of ideas that personalize color, materials and style. Stimuli that follow three main trends:
- Textured
- Decorative
- Pictorial
Textured 1
The surfaces are fragmented, interrupted or entwined by uniform or asymmetrical shapes crossed by slashes and waves. Light and shadow alternate over three-dimensional elements, to create the illusion of volumes that protrude. Original effects inspired by lissé, pleated and creased fabrics. See the trends colors ( pdf 212k)
Textured 2
Leathers, furs, feathers, shells from the animal world, enlarged or miniaturized to distort the contextual effects. The color is never full, buthued, speckled, mottled, streaked to emphasize porosity, plumage, roughage. See the trends colors ( pdf 224k)
Textured 3
A world of paper, packaging, wood, stone, adds relief and motif, with waves, pitted effects and veined or burnt features. See the trends colors ( pdf 203k)
Decorative 1
Crystalline structures that appear fragile but are strong and full of character. Inspired by architectural masterpieces that mutate light variations to create a play of reflections. Ground crystals, weightless iridescent powders, mother of pearl shards. Baroque relief reminiscent of brocade and damask. See the trends colors ( pdf 329k)
Decorative 2
Manipulation of refraction, light and reflection. Metallic surfaces, smooth or pounded, silver, gold, copper. Multicolor micro-buttoned textures, neon illuminated relief, flashes of transient light and color. See the trends colors ( pdf 220k)
Decorative 3
Metallic architecture, seemingly strong and robust but softened by aspects of lace. Strong industrial lace, inspired by the Eiffel Tower, or the gentle curves of the Chrysler Building's some. Moorish embroidery and Art-Déco motifs. See the trends colors ( pdf 247k)
Pictorial 1
The use of color requires a degree of discipline to experiment with pictorial techniques: water colors, prints, graffiti, dripping, the florals of Georgia O'Keefe. But also patchwork techniques that achieve almost mosaic effects. See the trends colors ( pdf 262k)
Pictorial 2
Modular inlays, grafted into gradual chromatic changes or sharp contrasts. The search for irregular shapes to create puzzles that are individual and personalized. See the trends colors ( pdf 169k)
Pictorial 3
A descriptive spirit inspires these new "Trompe l'oeil" works: landscapes, abstract flowers and leaves, lace features. See the trends colors ( pdf 195k)

Almost all colors in Moods 2006 were obtained by 45-wire screen printing on a glossy white monoporosa. Firing: 1120ºC/50 min
One of the versions of the trend family Pictorial 1, obtained with third firing colors, is the only exception: 90-wire screen printing on a glossy white glaze (double-firing), firing 830ºC/50 min
Transparent glossy base used for most of the color families: TK01 (Ca-Zn) White glossy base TK02 (Zr-Ca-Zn) used only in one case.
Transparent glossy base for double traditional firing 304/459 (Na-B) was used together with Iriodin 100 for the trend family Decorative 1.
The color shades printed above are only approximative.
