KERAjet Digital Inkjet Printing
…. Wider spaces for creativity in ceramic tiles
The system
KERAjet is an ink-jet printing system developed by Ferro in the last few years.
It is a 100% digital system applied to ceramic decoration through which you can
create,
modify,
transmit and
apply the design directly to the tile.
This ‘no touch’ printing system does not need any intermediate equipment (screens, rollers, etc.) to get the tile decorated.
This process is called ‘variable image’ system and it uses a four-color-process decoration (Cyan Magenta Yellow blacK) to create the finished design.
KERAjet system, already in full production use in many of the leading tile manufacturing companies in the world, represents a decorative system alternative to other traditional methods and opens new opportunities to creativity in ceramics.
Different models of the system are available on the market.
Each of them is suitable for a specific ceramic production technology:

The inks, the glazes
The four process colors specifically developed by Ferro for ink-jet ceramic decoration allow to develop a wide range of tones.
The four ceramic inks are fed automatically (‘drop on demand system’) through industrial electric printing-heads consisting of 500 injectors per head and transmitting 4000 drops/second each at an application speed of 6 ml/sec.

This is why Ferro’s inks have been developed to offer specific viscosity and physical features.
They have also been developed to be applied in any tile production technology: double fast firing, single fast firing and porcelain stoneware, covering a 1000-1250° C temperature range.
