The new 'Intensity' range of stains is specially designed to help ceramic manufacturers optimise screen printing process times and improve product quality.
The series consists of intense colored stains with controlled particle size distribution.
This allows for a considerable reduction in preparation and storage times for the numerous screen printing pastes commonly used in the ceramic industry, whatever production and decorating technologies are selected
This new range of color stains - proposed by Ferro in cooperation with key equipment, screen printing media and specific software manufacturers - allows ceramic producers to reduce the stock of products required for their production processes to just 15 pigments and a small number of vitreous bases.
Technical characteristics
These color stains are highly mixable, dispersible and flowable.
They produce guaranteed stable suspensions which are not susceptible to problems of gelling or alteration of viscosity.
These stains have been selected from the purest and most intense available for each family of ceramic pigments.

The stains assure excellent color consistency over a range of different firing cycles.
They can be used with any production technology and are available in either solid or liquid form.
Neutral thinning bases
A small number of screen printing bases (clear, opacified and matt) suitable for a wide range of firings were selected to guarantee maximum color development along with good rheological behaviour.

The fifteen colors chosen are perfectly capable of substituting those normally used in the ceramic sector. Clearly the range can be extended to meet customers' specific requirements.
The system - how it works
The spectrophotometer is able to determine the exact color to be reproduced.
After calibration with the 'Intensity' range stains, the software quickly provides a suitable formulation. This is then prepared on a just-in-time basis by the batching system in the required quantity for the laboratory or production department.
Advantages
As a result of the combined research and experience of Ferro, the individual pigments in the 'Intensity' range are so intense and pure that they can be mixed to create a wide range of colors.
Use of Ferro stains and adequate colorimetric and mixing systems allows the entire screen printing process to be rationalised, thereby:
- Considerably reducing production times compared to conventional methods.
- Managing the warehouse more rationally and cost effectively.
- Recovering surplus stock or incorrectly mixed products.
